Drafter/Designer - Entry Level

Arcadia Studio, in our 25th year, is an award winning Landscape Architecture firm with three offices across California. We are seeking a full time person in our Santa Barbara office to help draft and design projects while providing general project support.
Arcadia has a long and successful history of providing advanced learning and skill building opportunities for those who are early in their careers. Being a member of Arcadia’s team provides experience in a wide variety of project and design styles. The ideal candidate will meet these basic requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture is required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign is required.
• Exposure to Adobe Illustrator, Bluebeam, Enscape, and LandFX is preferred.
This position includes on-going training that assists new team members in learning to manage the following responsibilities:
Drafting
• Producing workable CAD drawings, often incorporating existing files from engineers, architects, arborists, surveyors and others.
• Working closely with Arcadia’s project managers to develop cohesive landscape plans and construction documents. This will include planting plans with a palette suitable to our region, irrigation plans, sustainable water features and developing hardscape plans that ensure accessibility and maintainability while retaining a high level of design sensibility, and more.
• Developing technical, custom detail drawings for built elements.
• 3D modeling projects to create renderings using various software tools.
• Assisting in master planning efforts, such as consolidating renderings, creating image boards and schematic design graphics for presentations.
Design
• Provide input while developing layout plans, inspiration boards and material specifications, coordinating design intent with clients and architects through iterative design sketches, layouts and reviews.
• Researching and designing planting palettes and layouts that emphasize drought resilience, water conservation and wildlife biodiversity.
• Assisting with on-site plant placement and arrangement to successfully execute designs.
